During the session, Adaora, a serial entrepreneur and  currently a director at Trellis Group, a creative co-op based in Lagos Nigeria, highlighted the importance of collaboration with and without the creative industry, especially for artists and content creators. Read an excerpt from the session below:

Everybody is afraid to collaborate because you are thinking about people in your creative industry. In order to do things that have been mentioned here today, you are going to need lawyers, you are going to need accountants, people in finance, you are going to need people in brand comms, you are going to need project managers, and in the creative industry, I found that a lot of times, it’s like the creatives against the non-creatives , it’s like a competition, “I’m a creative you are not”. Everybody is a creative, I think everybody was born with creativity, it just depends on what side you decide to focus your creativity in. So people who are scientist are actually creatives, and so I think that once we break that notion of thinking that “I’m the creative industry, I’m not going to look for people outside of my industry, we won’t be able to transition into a creative economy.
