As part of activities marking the 60th anniversary of media icon and publisher of Genevieve magazine, Mrs. Betty Irabor, some members of the media community are organizing a colloquium titled “Media Hosts Betty Irabor at 60, with theme BECAUSE INTEGRITY MATTERS on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
Betty Irabor at 60 is organized by a number of organizations including Genevieve Magazine, Women in Journalism Africa and several other journalism-based outlets to highlight the importance of maintaining high journalism standards and the ethics of the profession even with the advent of the digital age.
Keynote speaker at the event shall be veteran journalist and first female editor of a leading daily, Dr. Doyinsola Abiola. The event will also feature several other media luminaries who will do justice to the subject of integrity in the media.
One of the organizers of the event and PR consultant, Mrs. Liz Osho described the event as one that will help position journalists to take on ethical challenges as they go about their duties.
“As veteran journalists gather to discuss the issues, it is our hope that their vast experience in media, leadership and governance, will lend the credence to the discussions and be a catalyst for inspiring the present generation of media practitioners to continue to strive for excellence.”
