This Olumide Oresegun’s Photorealistic Painting Sold For Almost A Million

Remember those surreal drawings of Nigerian artist Olumide Oresegun that broke the internet earlier in the year? If not, check here. In other news, we just found out one of his artworks, an oil on canvas painting of a young girl covered in drops of water recently sold for almost a million, that’s N805,000 by Art House Contemporary, an art auction house based in Lagos.

Doesn’t sound like much compared to some of the figures paid for other forms of art in Nigeria this year but its good to know contemporary (and living!) artists based in Nigeria are earning and earning well from their craft.
