Data Oruwari a Nigerian Creative strategist, artist and illustrator showcased at the just concluded art exhibition ‘Panorama’ which was organised by Kuma Nation, a home for graffiti, urban and street art in Nigeria. At the event which was held on Saurday 17th December 2016 at Get Arena, Lekki, Data created a very attractive mural on a wall. This piece which she calls ‘Be Present’ might just mean a little more than you think.
Data in a conversation with FW tells us about this piece –
The piece was my take on a meditative mandala.
Mandala’s have been used by Indians to create sacred spaces and for prayers. It is a symbol of balance in the universe.
Yesterday’s piece served as a reminder for people to take time out of their day to meditate and be present.
