NBC has released the first trailer for “Emerald City,” a 10-episode TV series reimagining of the classic Frank L. Baum books that have inspired everything from “The Wizard Of Oz” to “Wicked.”
In it, Florence Kasumba – who received recognition thanks to her very brief appearance in “Captain America: Civil War” earlier this year, and who will also appear in the upcoming “Black Panther” movie – plays the Wicked Witch of the East in “Emerald City.” She’s barely in the trailer, but given how much excitement there was over her casting in the upcoming series as well as the first look image released over the summer, I’m sure many of you would love to see the trailer as well.
“Emerald City” is described as “a modern and dark reimagining of the classic tale of Oz in the vein of ‘Game Of Thrones.’ Swept up into the eye of a tornado, 20-year-old Dorothy Gale (Arjona) is transported to another world — a mystical land in great peril, where an all-powerful Wizard has outlawed magic and rules over the many kingdoms. This is the fabled Land of Oz in a way you’ve never seen before — where lethal warriors roam, wicked witches plot in the shadows and a young girl from Kansas becomes the headstrong hero who holds the fate of their world in her hands.”
