Kunle Afolayan’s ‘The CEO’ Movie Premiere Is Going To Take Place In The Sky… Literally

The mystery and anticipation surrounding Kunle Afolayan’s next movie ‘The CEO’ just climbed another notch. The award winning director is planning something very avant-garde for the premiere. According to his Instagram:

“1st of June 2016. The CEO Special premiere. Red carpet at check in counter, cocktail party at the boarding gate into the plane. Movie screen onboard the plane Lagos-Paris, after party happens 40,000ft above the sea level. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss. Yeah, you read that right. The very first time any audience is going to experience The CEO is 40,000ft in the air on the way to France, with Champagne in hand. Kunle Afolayan is a bit popular for elaborate premieres and a very aggressive marketing drive for his movies before they actually hit cinemas. For his last movie, October 1, which was a period piece set in pre-independence Nigeria, the director threw a 1950’s themed party with guests dressed in Afros, Frocks and Bell-bottoms. The hall was filed with movie props from the era – Volkswagen Beetles and Palmwine tapper bicycles.

The CEO has been very hyped and quite a lot has been said and written about the movie.

The movie, shot last year, features a Pan-African cast including Wale OjoHilda DokuboKemi Lala AkindojuAngelique Kidjo, Peter King MwaniaFatym LayachiNico PanagioAurelie Eliamand Ahmed Sultan.

It is set, mainly, on a beach on the outskirts of Lagos and it tells the story of five top executives from across Africa who are dispatched on a one-week leadership retreat by a multinational telecommunication firm to determine who to appoint as the firm’s new CEO.
